Atlas-Flora is an independent, expert plant atlas online. We gather reliable, well-organised knowledge about garden and houseplants in one place: growing requirements, care, companion planting, diseases and pests, and gardening tools — in Polish, German and English.

How Atlas-Flora came about

My name is Sylwia. The idea for Atlas-Flora grew out of a very practical need: when my husband and I were building our house and laying out the garden, questions came up at every step — how deep to plant, how much to water, what goes next to what, what survives frost in our zone, how to spot a disease. The answers were scattered across dozens of sites, forums and contradictory guides, and there simply was no one solid place to look it all up.

Atlas-Flora is meant to be exactly that place: one atlas, structured data on the plant, its requirements, diseases and neighbours — in three languages, with sources and an honest mark of where something is certain and where it is only likely.

What the atlas offers

Detailed plant profiles with requirements (light, soil, water, hardiness zone), an encyclopedia of diseases and pests with symptoms and control, guides, calculators (watering, planting), a comparison tool, and diagnosis by symptom. The catalogue keeps growing.

How we create content

Credibility matters to us, so we follow a few principles:

• Structured data. Every plant attribute comes from controlled vocabularies and is validated automatically on every change.
• Cited sources. We rely on professional literature and institutions (botanical atlases, horticultural research institutes). Sources are shown on disease, pest and guide pages.
• Honest about certainty. For companion planting we mark the level of evidence (research / observation / tradition), and USDA hardiness maps are labelled as approximate.
• We fix mistakes. The content is living and gets updated.

Illustrations

Plant photos in the atlas are AI-generated illustrative images, chosen to represent each species as faithfully as possible. For field identification, always compare several sources.
